The attitude required to face the state of disability in children

What is the position that parents and educators should take? This question has an answer that we can summarize as follows:

- Accepting them as they are like any child, especially for children with special needs.

- Allah entrusted the child in the hands of parents and others, and it is everyone's job to accept them as they are.

- Giving them protection and respect is their right.

- Guiding them to doing, jobs and actions that they must be accomplish and how to accomplish them.

- Giving importance to the safety of these people and highlighting the endeavor and effort to fix the problems and imbalances they face.

- Giving responsibility to these people within the limits of their ability and potential, and striving to strengthen them.

- Knowing what makes them happy and making sure that they are happy.

- Education and upbringing for them within the limits of their capabilities, taking into account their special situation.

- Preparing for their desire, finding motivation and moving them so that they are interested in work and endeavor and be a useful member of society.

In general, parents and educators can prepare the situation in a way that compensates for the deficiency that these children suffer from, so that they feel safe, reassured, energetic, and satisfied with the existing situation.

Necessary prevention

Parents and educators accompanying such children and those responsible for their upbringing and development should avoid some actions and make use of some points, the most important of which are the following:

- Avoid pointing out their shortcomings or stating the shortcomings of children.

- Refrain from blaming and reprimanding about their deficiency and backwardness at the same time.

- Avoid looking at the place of imperfection and defect.

- Avoiding pitying them, which causes torment of the soul and a kind of bad education for them.

- Refrain from finding despair in their souls, such as telling them: that you are forced to bear these circumstances until the end of life.

- Preventing other people from harassing them or doing what causes them sadness.

- Refrain from telling them about their illness and introducing it to others.

- Avoid overprotecting them, which causes them to become more attached than before.

In general, parents should be a source of joy and contentment for these children, and they are considered factors in their happiness. By making use of the rest of the existing senses, they must be educated and guided to lift their shortcomings and make up for them, and to stand on their own feet.
