Monophthongs and diphthongs PRICE

Unlike the previous two items, the vocalic target of PRICE is realized by most Indo-Fijian speakers of Pure Fiji English almost like a diphthong. However, the lingual glide from its first to second target tends to be more restricted (i.e. shorter) than what is generally heard in standard metropolitan Englishes. The first target is largely realized as a retracted and lowered [ɐ] which is followed by a lingual glide which tends not to go much further than a slightly raised [e].
