Innovations /ð/ > /d, r/

There are not very many examples of items with English /ð/. In a number of them a development to /d/ is observable. The item t’ other shows a development /ð/ to /r/. However this is parallelled in this word by forms in other creoles such as Jamaican /tára/ and Gullah . Finally, the developments in Nduka (and Saramaccan) in brother are a purely internal affair of the Suriname creoles, which we will briefly discuss below.
