According to the modern kinetic theory of heat, the molecules of all bodies are in a state of rapid vibration, and any increase of the rapidity of this motion, from whatever cause, increases the heat of the body, while the heat is decreased if this velocity is diminished. Heat is a form of molecular energy which may be produced by other forms of energy, and is itself convertible into other forms.
