With regard to TH, General American English /θ/ occurs as [θ] and [t] or [th] in free variation in basilectal Hawai‘i Creole, and /ð/ as [ð] and [d], for example: [thɔt] ‘thought’, [wit] ‘with’ and [dæt] ‘that’, [ɑdɑ] ‘other’. For two items, [f] has replaced [ð]: [bзrfde] ‘birthday’ and [beɪf] ‘bathe’. In mesolectal varieties, [T] and [ð] are more frequent.

Some speakers lack [Ʒ] in their phonemic inventory and substitute /ʤ/ as in [meʤɑ] ‘measure’. /s/ is often palatalized before both /ʧ/ and /r/: /ʃʧrit/ ‘street’, /groʃri/ ‘grocery’.

/v/ may be deleted between voiced sounds: [eritiŋ] ‘everything’, [neɑ] ‘never’, [oɑ] ‘over’.
