In year 583, a group of 75 individuals from Yathrib traveled to Mecca and met with the Prophet (s). They gathered in an area called al-Aqaba and pledged their allegiance to him. Upon receiving news of the event, the disbelievers of Mecca armed themselves with the intention of attacking the group. Ali (a) and the Prophet’s uncle, Hamza bin Abd al Muttalib (a), made preparations to confront the attackers. Their swift action provided an opportunity for the people from Yathrib to safely escape from the scene.
