The end must come but you can be prepared

One of the concerns as we get older is that we won’t have a chance to do the things we always wanted to do, finish the project we started years ago, or repair the walls that have fallen into disrepair. Don’t wait until the end of your life to figure out what you’ve always wanted to do. Think about these things now and do them.

Students tend to procrastinate; if you give them a paper and give them two months to do it, many will wait until the last day to cram in their studying and taking notes, then move on to writing and not enjoy a moment of the process. It’s a frantic effort with little regard for quality. Students who complete their papers promptly, anticipate what needs to be done, and do their work in an organized manner never feel out of control and can enjoy themselves.

We live life like that student who writes a paper, either a procrastinator or a planner; the procrastinator can’t control things, and each year that passes becomes a source of frustration.

A planner, on the other hand, finishes what needs to be done, and treats each passing year as a mark of accomplishment.

Research on older adults shows that those who feel comfortable with aging do not ignore things, but prepare themselves for them.
