Six matters that drive children to steal

Imam Ali - peace be upon him - said: (Habit has power over every person, and it is a possessive and overwhelming enemy), as children may fall into a bad habit that pushes them to steal and take the belongings of others. Yes, we may be able to justify what they did by saying that it is based on spontaneity or good intentions, but the child must be trained to respect the privacy of others, and make him understand that this is considered theft, which is reprehensible and the individual is condemned for it and punished by law, and he will have a painful punishment in the afterlife. There are six things that push children to steal, so learn about them:

First: When the child gets used to the daily allowance and then is not given it or is deprived of it, this may push him to think about searching for money, and then he tries to take it by any means agreed upon, and he tries to do so secretly, so it is useful to set a program for his purchases and follow it carefully so that he adheres to it.

Second: Imitation and copying of their friends and being influenced by their talk about their adventures about their audacity in taking money from their parents without their knowledge, or stealing some sweets..

Third: Influenced by what they see in electronic games, cartoons, and police films with negative content that includes stories of robbery, theft, chases, and the like, which show the thief in the lead and star role.

Fourth: Curiosity and the desire to learn may push children to take other people's belongings in order to watch them closely, such as taking their brother's coloring pens, or taking boxes of candy, or taking some jewelry...

Fifth: Poverty and need, which are realistic motives that force children to steal money, food, sweets, juices, and clothes, either out of hunger, or to appear rich.

Sixth: Some children may get involved in personal problems with their friends, and they are threatened and blackmailed by their bullying peers if they do not carry out their orders, so they resort to stealing to ward off potential fears, or some gangs may blackmail them and force them to steal, exploiting their innocence and young age.
