Who is responsible for managing and directing family affairs?

As you know, the husband and wife, as they walk the path of shared life, need understanding and agreement before anything else, and they can achieve this through constructive and calm dialogue, and through friendly tolerance without any favors from either of them. But there is a question that always arises: Who bears the responsibility of managing, directing and leading the family’s affairs? And who determines the frameworks of the general policy and the general approach of the family? We will answer as follows:

First: Allah, the Almighty, the Most High - who is the owner and ruler of this world and its inhabitants - made the man responsible for the family and its guardian, and made this great responsibility on the shoulders of the man. Allah, the Almighty, said in the Holy Quran: {Men are the maintainers of women, because Allah has given one more (strength) than the other, and because they spend [for maintenance] from their wealth. So the righteous women are devoutly obedient, and guard in [the husband’s] absence what Allah would have them guard.} Allah, the Almighty, the Most High, has made The man is a guardian and responsible for his wife, children and family, as mentioned in this noble verse, for two valid reasons:

The first reason: is the ability that the man enjoys and the potential that he is blessed with.

The second reason: is the man’s responsibility in terms of securing the family’s expenses and requirements - Allah Almighty, who created the existence of women and men, knows very well the extent of the capabilities, potentials and psychology of each of them, as well as the nature of the responsibilities that each man and woman can carry out in a more efficient and worthy manner. Second: If the wife is sound-minded and aware, she realizes that continuing the joint marital life and obtaining the husband's love for her can only be achieved through obeying the husband. If she desires her husband's respect for her, she must also respect her husband's words, directions and instructions, and accept his management of the affairs of family life. Third: If there is no obedience and mutual acceptance of the tasks and roles between the husband and wife within the family organization, then the roots of dissent and stubbornness begin to appear, and this scourge destroys the tender branches of marital life and causes it to dry up.
