Creature that can live for a very long time
3:0:1 2023-07-28 1005

Italian biologists working at the Zoological Station in Naples have studied one of the most mysterious creatures, as it can live forever.

The Biologist magazine indicates that this mysterious creature is the jellyfish Turritopsis dohrnii, whose representatives, according to researchers, live about 66 million years, that is, they were floating in the oceans before the extinction of the dinosaurs.

The researchers discovered that this type of jellyfish can practically age backward (aging in the opposite direction), and then return to growth from scratch.

Biologists have been able to recreate this cycle in the lab, and have shown how jellyfish revert to childhood up to ten times a year. Researchers have identified more than 1,000 genes linked to aging and DNA recovery.

Scientists continue to study these unique creatures, as they may shed light on the mechanisms of eternal life.
