A young man whose family or social upbringing may have been bad and corrupt, and who cannot adapt to his society, should not despair, and should not imagine that he has been destined to live frustrated and miserable all his life, because he is able to reform himself and change his personality for the better, with diligence, determination and will.
Religiously and scientifically, a young man like this is responsible for combating his corrupt and harmful habits, purifying himself of bad manners and morals that only result in deprivation and misery, and striving to secure the ingredients for his happiness by acquiring the best qualities.
Using reason and logic:
“The habits that we have been accustomed to for many years cannot disappear overnight, but fortunately we can expel every habit, no matter how old it is, much faster than we acquired it if we relied on reason and logic.”
We must first know the general rules that control the human being, and then we know ourselves well, that is, we understand what we must expel from the habits and characteristics of our self, and what we must strive to develop, and we must know what capacity lies within us that can secure us happiness. In life, if we know all these things, we must first acquire patience, then be keen observers of ourselves, and strive with all seriousness and will to change what we want to change in our souls.
Vanity obscures the mind:
The young man who suffers from bad morals and habits and does not take a single step towards reforming them self, is either the result of vanity that obscures his mind and hinders him from realizing his moral deviations, or because of ignorance that makes him unable to distinguish between virtue and vice, or because of weakness in the will that prevents him from taking action.
