The important issue in this phenomenon is the dissatisfaction of the parents of their child stealing, as they are deeply concerned because they are characterized by sincerity and honesty, but have a child who has been a thief in young age, and this is what puts them in an embarrassing predicament in front of people.
The issue that should be clarified from the outset to respected parents is that if their child is under the age of discernment and steals, then the issue is not that dangerous, as it is easy to fix it by means of alerts and warnings and by using some controls. Rather, what necessitates concern is that the child intends to steal after the age of discernment and when he becomes able to know the evil and ugliness of the act. And such a situation requires taking other measures because it is really disturbing.
The roots of theft
It must be said first regarding the roots of theft that not all scholars agree on this matter. Yes, there is agreement on the basis of the issue among all psychologists and ethicists, but they put forward different roots for it through which some specific results can be reached.
There is no doubt that all people and all ages have important requirements and needs, and it is not possible to provide all their requirements in the easy and possible ways, while it is possible for everyone through theft to reach their goals and obtain everything they desire. So theft seems to be a way of overcoming all difficulties.
Here is another point of view that believes that the phenomenon of theft originates from deprivation. As the deprivation of even some simple needs leads to committing theft, such as deprivation of certain food, sweets, or refreshments, unless the person cherishes them self and take pride in their personality. We mention in this regard the deprivation during childhood and the lack of a sense of satisfaction, as it plays an important role in such behavior.
